FIB USU PR - on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), welcomed a delegation from Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School. Held at the Dean’s Office of FIB USU, the visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties and explore opportunities to continue collaboration, particularly in foreign language education and development.
The meeting focused on plans to develop Japanese and Mandarin language programs for students of Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School who are preparing to pursue higher education. The initiative is expected to equip prospective university students with foreign language competencies that can support their academic pursuits and broaden their opportunities in an increasingly interconnected global environment.
The meeting was attended by representatives and a delegation from Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School. Representing FIB USU were Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D. (Dean); Dr. Zulfan, S.S., M.Hum. (Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations); Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., CIT (Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure); Andi Pratama Lubis, S.S., M.Hum. (Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization); and the Head of the P2KI Subdivision of FIB USU.
The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, with discussions focusing on opportunities to further develop collaboration in language learning and language development programs.
The proposed collaboration reflects FIB USU’s commitment to supporting the development of students’ linguistic and academic competencies. Japanese and Mandarin, as two widely used languages in international communication, can provide students with additional skills and perspectives that may be valuable for their future academic and professional development.
Beyond language instruction, the planned program is expected to strengthen the connection between secondary and higher education institutions. Through this collaboration, FIB USU and Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School seek to create meaningful learning opportunities that prepare students for the demands of higher education and the broader global community.
