FIB USU PR - On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), carried out the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Language, Public Relations, and Publishing Unit (UPT BKP) of Universitas Malikussaleh. This activity represents a strategic step in strengthening institutional collaboration in the fields of language, public relations, and academic publishing.
The event was attended by the leadership and academic community of FIB USU, including the Dean, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A.; Vice Dean I, Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D.; the Head of Subdivision; and lecturers from the Undergraduate Program in History. Their presence reflects FIB USU’s strong commitment to expanding sustainable institutional partnerships.
Representing Universitas Malikussaleh were the Head of UPT BKP, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya, M.Hum; UPT BKP Videographer Ahmad Al Bastin; Unimalnews Journalist Faizul Aulia, M.Sos; as well as Senior Adviser of UPT BKP and Head of MAN 2 Medan, Dr. Wuri Tamtama Abdi.
In her remarks, the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., expressed her appreciation for the establishment of cooperation between the two institutions. She emphasized that this collaboration is an important step in strengthening the role of higher education institutions in addressing global challenges in education, language, and academic publishing.
“This cooperation is expected not only to remain at the level of formal agreement but also to be implemented through concrete programs that provide tangible benefits for lecturers, students, and both institutions,” she stated.
The Dean also highlighted the importance of synergy among higher education institutions in enhancing the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in research development, academic publications, and strengthening institutional public relations in the digital era. She expressed hope that this collaboration would serve as a gateway to broader partnerships in the future.
Meanwhile, the Head of UPT BKP Universitas Malikussaleh, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya, M.Hum, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from FIB USU and the opportunity to establish closer cooperation.
“Through the signing of this IA and MoA, we aim to build a productive and sustainable collaboration, particularly in advancing academic publications, enhancing human resource capacity, and strengthening institutional branding through professional public relations,” he remarked.
He further added that this collaboration serves as an important momentum for exchanging knowledge and experiences, thereby contributing more broadly to the advancement of education and society.
The IA and MoA aim to develop cooperation in various areas, particularly in improving the quality of academic publications, strengthening institutional public relations, and developing innovative and collaborative language programs. Through this partnership, both institutions are expected to support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in research and community service.
The event concluded with a group photo session as a symbol of the official commencement of collaboration between FIB USU and UPT BKP Universitas Malikussaleh, along with a shared commitment to continuously enhance quality and contributions in education and academic publishing.
