Students of the Mandarin Language and English Literature Study Programs at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), conducted an industrial visit to PT Basic Internasional to broaden their understanding of the industrial sector and strengthen the synergy between higher education and industry in supporting the development of adaptive and globally competitive student competencies.


FIB USU PR -  On Thursday, May 7, 2026, students from the Mandarin Language and English Literature Study Programs of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, visited PT Basic Internasional as part of efforts to enhance academic insight and practical experience in the industrial world. The delegation was officially sent off by Dr. Zulfan, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of FIB USU, at the courtyard of FIB USU. The event was also attended by the Heads of the English Literature and Mandarin Language Study Programs, as well as the Head of the Cooperation Subdivision.


The industrial visit aimed to provide students with direct insight into manufacturing production processes, expand their understanding of the professional working environment, and strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and industry. Through this activity, students were expected to better understand the application of knowledge and skills in a professional workplace setting.


Dr. Zulfan, S.S., M.Hum. stated that industrial visits serve as an important means of supporting the improvement of student competencies. In addition to gaining theoretical knowledge in the classroom, students also need direct exposure to industrial dynamics and work systems to better prepare themselves for future career challenges.


During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe the company’s production processes firsthand, learn about manufacturing operational systems, and engage in discussions with company representatives regarding work culture and the competencies currently required in the industry. The activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the students as it provided valuable experiences and new insights relevant to their career development.


Through this industrial visit, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, hopes to continue strengthening the synergy between education and industry in order to support the development of high-quality, adaptive, and globally competitive human resources.
