FIB USU PR - Monday, July 8 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held a preparatory meeting for the implementation of PKKMB (Introduction to Campus Life for New Students) in 2024. The meeting was attended by the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., Vice Dean I Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D. Vice Dean II Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd., Vice Dean III Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Academic Expert Staff, Student and Alumni Affairs Expert Staff, Head of Administration, Head of Student and Alumni Affairs Subdivision, Chair and Secretary of the Study Program.
FIB USU Dean Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A said that USU's PKKMB will be held for 3 days starting August 12 -14 2024. For this reason, the Dean asked Vice Dean I and Chair of FIB USU's PKKMB Dr. Zulfan S.S., M. Hum. to prepare the place and agenda given by the leadership. Then we will also discuss the technicalities and themes that will be presented by the resource person. "I hope that in this year's PKKMB, we will continue to provide provisions to students, especially FIB students, in pursuing their education at university. Hopefully, your cooperation can make PKKMB in 2024 at FIB USU a success,". said the Dean.
The meeting then continued with a presentation from Vice Dean I. The presentation discussed the PKKMB activity pattern, the layout of the PKKMB location starting from the USU's mini stadium to mobilization to each faculty, the PKKMB attributes that would be distributed to the PKKMB committee and participants. There will be a MURI Record Breaking Activity initiated by the Faculty of Medicine, by conducting Basic Life Support Training for 8000+ participants, but it is still being discussed. Every detail of the activities that will be held over the three days is explained carefully.
Vice Dean I hopes that the faculty can prevent other PKKMB activities outside of the hours determined by the University, the faculty can prevent the gathering of new students by their seniors both before and after PKKMB hours, the faculty prepares time for material for the PPKS Task Force and the introduction of faculty's ORMAWA (Student Executive Board and Student Activity Unit).
After the presentation was finished, the meeting continued with discussions between the committee. This discussion is an important moment in ensuring that all details have been carefully considered, and all aspects of the event have been well coordinated. The entire Committee exchanges ideas, provides input, and looks for the best solutions for any challenges that may arise during the implementation of PKKMB 2024.
