FIB USU PR - The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in collaboration with the West Region PTN BKS in the fields of Language, Literature, Education, Arts and Culture is holding SEMIRATA 2023 (International Seminar and Annual Dean's Meeting). The International Seminar is entitled The First International Seminar on Language, Literature, Education, Arts, and Culture (1st ISoLLEAC) in conjunction with The Fifth International Seminar on Language, Culture, and History (5th ISLCH) with the theme "Strengthening Science and Technology Innovation in Language, Literature, Education, Arts, and Culture for Sustainable Development”. SEMIRATA BKS PTN West Region in the fields of Language, Literature, Education, Arts and Culture 2023 will be held on 25-26 August 2023 in a hybrid manner via the Zoom Meeting platform (online) and Le Polonia Hotel and Convention, Medan (offline).
This activity also invited several speakers from within and outside the country such as David Harrison Peters, Ph.D from the American University of Paris, Prof. Sokolova Yamashita Kiyomi, Ph.D. from Nihon University, Prof. Sam Ang Sam, M.A., Ph.D. from Paññāsāstra University, Associate Prof. Dr. Mohamed Zain Sulaiman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani, M.S. from the Universitas Sumatera Utara and Dr. Wahyu Triatmojo from Universitas Negeri Medan.
On August 25 2023, the activity began with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. as Dean of FIB USU and remarks from the Head of BKS PTN West Region who was represented. The 2023 SEMIRATA activity was officially opened with welcoming remarks and the beating of the Gong by Mr. Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Sc. as Rector of USU. The Rector of USU said that the output of this seminar could produce articles that could be published in Scopus indexed journals. Apart from that, the Rector also touched on the establishment of standardization in the Student Exchange program between BKS PTN West Region universities. The activity then continued with giving souvenirs in the form of Songket and Malay Tanjak (Tengkolok) to the resource persons who were present in person.
On August 26 2023, the international seminar and meeting of the West Region PTN BKS Deans began. The activity was opened by Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, M. Hum. as Chair of SEMIRATA 2023. The international seminar took place over 2 sessions in 8 different rooms. The Western Region PTN BKS Dean's Meeting took place in the Gatot Soebroto Room. The meeting discussed the composition of the West PTN BKS management for the fields of Language, Literature, Arts and Culture and work plans for 2024.
