The event was officially opened by the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. In her remarks, she emphasized that the Outstanding Student Selection is not merely a competition, but a strategic platform to identify, develop, and appreciate outstanding students who excel not only academically, but also possess strong character, creativity, and meaningful contributions to society.

“In today’s fast-moving era, achievement is no longer just about high grades. It is about perseverance, consistency, integrity, and the ability to make an impact,” she stated. She further highlighted that this program is expected to produce students who can represent the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at the university, national, and even international levels.

Furthermore, the Dean encouraged all participants to compete with elegance while upholding sportsmanship. According to her, the true essence of competition lies not only in the final results, but also in the learning process that shapes character.

“The greatest victory is not merely becoming the winner, but becoming an individual who grows through the process,” she added.

On this occasion, she also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the organizing committee for their hard work in preparing the event, as well as to the panel of judges for their time and dedication in carrying out the evaluation process.

The Dean also expressed her hope that the judges would not only provide objective and professional assessments, but also offer constructive feedback and guidance to the participants, serving as valuable input for their personal development so that they may become more excellent, competitive, and well-prepared to face future challenges.
