Program Studi Magister (S2) Ilmu Sejarah - The Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU) successfully conducted a matriculation program for newly admitted students of the Master’s Program in History for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The two-day academic program, held from Friday, August 21, to Saturday, August 22, 2026, was conducted in person at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences.


The academic program was officially opened on the first day by FIB USU Dean Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of the matriculation period as an initial academic preparation for master’s students, particularly in aligning their understanding of advanced theory and methodology while strengthening their readiness for historical research at the postgraduate level.


The matriculation marked a new milestone for the faculty, as it was the first independently organized matriculation program conducted by the Master’s Program in History since its official establishment. The initiative underscores FIB USU’s commitment to strengthening academic foundations and enhancing the quality of graduates in the field of History.


Over the two-day program, newly admitted students received intensive academic sessions delivered by Drs. Nuhung, M.A., Ph.D., covering curriculum orientation, methodological perspectives, and an introduction to the university’s academic system. With the completion of the matriculation program, the new students of the Master’s Program in History for the 2026/2027 Academic Year are considered academically prepared to begin their studies in the upcoming semester.


The inaugural matriculation program organized by the Master’s Program in History contributes to particularly by strengthening students’ understanding of theory, methodology, and research readiness. This initiative reflects FIB USU’s institutional commitment to improving the quality, accessibility, and relevance of high-quality higher education.
