FIB USU PR - August 11, 2026 The Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU) held an Archives Management Workshop themed “Strengthening Archival Management Competencies for Orderly, Effective, and Accountable Administration” on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The workshop was held at the FIB USU Multipurpose Hall and attended by members of the FIB USU academic community.
The workshop featured Dr. Aisyah, S.E., M.Si., Archives Manager at Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Raisa Dwi Safitri, S.S.I., Archivist at Universitas Sumatera Utara, as speakers. The session was moderated by Andika Iskandar Mak Dunia, Dipl.
Also attending the workshop were Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure of FIB USU Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., CIT, and Vice Dean for Research, Community Engagement, Cooperation, and Internationalization of FIB USU Andi Pratama Lubis, S.S., M.Hum. The participation of faculty leadership and members of the academic community underscored the importance of strengthening archival management as an integral part of effective administrative governance in higher education institutions.
The workshop was organized to enhance the academic community’s understanding and competencies in managing records and archives properly and systematically. Effective archival management is an essential component of maintaining orderly, efficient, and accountable administrative processes.
Through the workshop, participants had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of archival management and understand the importance of applying sound archival practices to support institutional administration. These competencies are essential for ensuring that documents and records are managed systematically, thereby supporting the smooth implementation of administrative duties and functions across the faculty.
The participation of archival management professionals from Universitas Sumatera Utara also provided participants with the opportunity to gain practical insights from practitioners experienced in managing archives within a university environment. At the same time, the active involvement of the FIB USU academic community is expected to strengthen the application of effective archival management practices in carrying out their respective duties and responsibilities.
Through the Archives Management Workshop, FIB USU continues to promote capacity building among its academic community in support of professional administrative governance. A strong understanding of archival management is expected to be applied in daily administrative activities, ensuring that documents and records are managed in a more orderly and effective manner.
The workshop also forms part of FIB USU’s commitment to strengthening institutional governance through human resource capacity development. Improved archival management is expected to contribute to more effective, orderly, and accountable administrative processes across the faculty.
The workshop is expected to go beyond knowledge enhancement during the event itself and encourage the sustainable application of archival management knowledge and competencies in administrative practices throughout FIB USU.
