Through Rumah dengan Pintu Biru: Sebuah Memoar, participants were invited to explore the author’s experiences and life journey as presented through personal narrative. The academic discussion of the work enriched perspectives on the relationship between memory, identity, individual experience, and history.
The participation of scholars in the field of history also provided students with an opportunity to develop their ability to critically engage with literary and historical narratives. The discussion brought together the author's personal experiences and academic perspectives, allowing students to consider how personal experiences can contribute to historical narratives and serve as sources for understanding the past.
Book discussions represent an important form of learning that can broaden students’ perspectives beyond the classroom. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to engage with the author, scholars, and fellow participants in a critical and reflective discussion of the work.
For students of the Undergraduate History Program at FIB USU, the event also provided a platform to strengthen literacy, source analysis, critical thinking, and academic communication skills. Examining memoirs enables students to recognize how human experiences and personal memories can contribute to a broader understanding of historical and social dynamics.
The event also contributed to strengthening the academic culture at FIB USU by creating a forum for intellectual exchange that brought together the author, scholars, academics, and students.
