FIB USU PR - In line with the increasing achievements of the Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) to become a leading and dignified university, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) USU provides an opportunity for students to take a Short Course to Srinakharinwirot University for three days from 13 - 15 September 2024. Participants for this activity are fifteen people, namely twelve representatives from Ethnomusicology FIB USU, two representatives from the Accounting and Management Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and one representative from the Communication Science Department of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). This activity is guided by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, MA, and Vice Dean I of FIB USU Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D.
The purpose of holding the Short Course to Srinakharinwirot University, in Bangkok, Thailand is to gain insight and knowledge about the history of Thai musical instruments. Students will directly experience the difference between theory and practice in the field; to understand various traditions and cultural values from other countries can broaden the perspective of students; can improve soft skills and hard skills possessed by students during the Short Course program; feel the family atmosphere abroad, precisely at Srinakharinwirot University; to increase exploration of art from various cultures can inspire new ideas and increase creativity; understand the art and culture of other countries that can help in efforts to preserve and appreciate global cultural heritage.
On September 14, 2014, FIB USU visited the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Bangkok and conducted a rehearsal with other Indonesian participants for the Indonesian Cultural Night performance. Furthermore, the last rehearsal and Indonesian Cultural Night performance were held at the Opera Theater in Siam Square, Bangkok on September 15, 2024.
On September 16, 2024, a meeting was held between FIB USU and Srinakharinwirot University at the Faculty Building to conduct a Short Course Workshop. Followed by the signing of the MoA between the Dean of FIB USU and the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Srinakharinwirot University.
