FIB USU PR - On Thursday, September 17, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated in The 6th International Conference on Language, Literature, Education, and Culture (ICOLEC) 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya. The conference was held under the theme “Language Without Borders: Advancing Linguistics, Language Education and Multicultural Understanding in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”

Held at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, the event featured Prof. Dr. Erikson Saragih, M.Hum. from the Doctoral Program in Linguistics at FIB USU as a Panel Presenter. The session commenced at 2:30 p.m. (Western Indonesia Time) and continued until completion.

In addition to participating in the academic forum, the event also served as an opportunity to strengthen institutional collaboration through the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) between the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya. The signing marked a step toward strengthening the implementation of academic cooperation between the two faculties, particularly in the areas of education, research, knowledge exchange, and academic networking.

Prof. Dr. Erikson Saragih’s participation as a Panel Presenter represented FIB USU’s academic engagement in an international forum addressing developments in linguistics, language education, and multicultural understanding amid advances in artificial intelligence. The conference theme also highlighted the importance of advancing language and education studies in an increasingly interconnected and borderless academic environment.

FIB USU’s participation in the international conference also provided opportunities for academic interaction and knowledge exchange with institutions and scholars from diverse backgrounds. Through the signing of the IA with the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, the institutional relationship between the two faculties is further directed toward strengthening the implementation of collaborative academic activities and sustainable scholarly development.

Through its participation in The 6th International Conference on Language, Literature, Education, and Culture (ICOLEC) 2026 and the signing of the Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, FIB USU continues to encourage academic engagement in international scholarly forums while strengthening institutional networks and partnerships. The initiative contributes to the advancement of academic knowledge, knowledge exchange, and broader opportunities for future academic collaboration.
