FIB USU PR - On Monday, August 3, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the Cybercrime Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police strengthened their institutional synergy through the signing of an implementation agreement. The event was held at the Hall of the Cybercrime Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police.
The signing marked an important milestone in strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and law enforcement agencies, particularly through the utilization of academic expertise to support the implementation of duties in the field of cybercrime law enforcement.
As part of the implementation of the cooperation, Dr. T. Kasa Rullah Adha, S.S., M.TCSOL., a lecturer in the Undergraduate Mandarin Language Study Program at FIB USU, served as a language expert at the request of the Cybercrime Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police. His involvement represents one of FIB USU’s contributions in providing professional academic support in accordance with his area of expertise.
The signing ceremony was hosted by the Director of the Cybercrime Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Police Commissioner Dr. Bayu Wicaksono, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si., along with members of his team. Representing FIB USU, the event was attended by the Dean of FIB USU, MHD. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D.; the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Andi Pratama Lubis, S.S., M.Hum.; as well as administrative staff from FIB USU.
In his remarks, Dr. Bayu Wicaksono expressed his appreciation for the establishment of cooperation with FIB USU. He emphasized that technological developments and the increasingly complex nature of crime in the digital sphere require academic support from various disciplines, including the field of linguistics.
Meanwhile, Dean of FIB USU MHD. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., welcomed the implementation of the cooperation as a concrete form of expanding the university’s contribution through the expertise of its academic community. According to him, universities have a responsibility to ensure that knowledge does not develop solely within academic environments but can also provide tangible benefits to society and government institutions.
“We welcome the implementation of the cooperation between FIB USU and the Cybercrime Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police.
