Outstanding Young Alumni is awarded to young alumni who have very special achievements, contributions or qualities in various fields and have a significant positive impact on society, the environment or certain fields. Lifetime achievement is awarded to USU graduates who have achieved extraordinary success and achievements throughout their lives after graduating from an educational institution. Humanitarian and Sociopreneur is awarded to USU graduates who make extraordinary contributions in the fields of humanity, social services, or entrepreneurship with strong social goals.

FIB USU PR - On Friday, December 15, 2023, Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held an Awarding Night or Achievement Awards Night. This activity was held by giving several awards and appreciation in various categories for the achievements of students and best advisor lecturers. These categories are International Rank 1 - 3, National Rank 1 - 3, Regional, and Ministry level achievements.

USU alumni were also given several awards which are Entrepreneurship category is awarded to USU graduates who start and develop their innovative ideas/ideas into businesses that provide widespread benefits and thus have an impact on changes in the regional or national economy. USU Rector, Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for all the achivements and accomplishments that have been achieved by the entire academic community throughout 2023. The Rector hopes that this award will be a future motivation to provide maximum support and contribution to USU.

The following are some of the achievements obtained by USU's Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB):

  • Best in Collaboration Data Management Category (MoA & IA)
  • Second Best in the Most Guest Lectures Category
  • International Journal of Culture and Art Studies (IJCAS) as the Second Winner of Best Academic Category in the 2023 Best USU TALENTA Journal Organizer
  • 3rd Place in Archives Unit II
  • Andika Iskandar Mak Dunia 3rd Place in Best Archives Manager
  • Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program as the Third Best in Study Program Collaboration with Industry Category
  • Harun Al Rasyid (Arabic Literature) 2nd place in Tartil Al-Quran National Student Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQMN)
  • Muhammad Agus (Arabic Literature) represented 1st place in reading the Book of Al Barzanji (MTQMN)
  • Samsul Arifin (Malay Literature) Entrepreneurial Student Development Program (P2MW) 2023
  • Queen Agatha Kezia Damanik (Historical Sciences) represented 1st place in the 12th Bali International Choir Festival
  • Nassya Nur Putri (Chinese Language) 3rd Place in Chinese Bridge Competition
  • Simon Pangihutan Simorangkir, S.S., M.B.A. (Chinese Language) Outstanding Young Alumni

Several FIB USU Study Programs also received awards as Excellent Study Programs in 2023 at the USU Awarding Night. USU awarded prizes of 10 million rupiah to 3 study programs which are Ethnomusicology, Library and Information Science, and Masters in Linguistics.

For information, USU Awarding Night 2023 is also filled with entertainment by presenting internal, local and national artists. A number of alumni, work partners and related stakeholders also received appreciation from the Rector of USU, one of which was the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution who received an award for figures who care about education.
