FIB USU PR - On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), received a visit from PT Basic International Sumatera (PT BIS) to discuss potential cooperation programs. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room of FIB USU and attended by the Vice Dean III of FIB USU, the Head of Subdivision for Cooperation, lecturers of FIB USU, and representatives of PT Basic International Sumatera.

The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration that could support academic development, enhance student competencies, and strengthen partnerships between higher education institutions and industry.

Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Vice Dean III of FIB USU, stated that cooperation with industry partners plays an important role in improving the quality of graduates, particularly in responding to the increasingly dynamic demands of the professional world.

During the discussion, representatives of PT Basic International Sumatera presented the company profile and its activities in education services, language training, and human resource development oriented toward international cooperation. PT BIS also expressed its interest in establishing partnership with FIB USU, especially in foreign language training, student internship programs, and academic activities aimed at improving cross-cultural communication skills.


The discussion also covered the possibility of organizing joint programs such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and competency development programs relevant to industry needs. PT BIS expressed hope that the planned cooperation would provide mutual benefits, particularly in supporting the development of competent and competitive human resources.


FIB USU welcomed the proposed collaboration and expected that the discussion would serve as an initial step toward building a sustainable partnership. Through this cooperation, students of FIB USU are expected to gain broader opportunities in both academic and professional development.


The meeting was conducted in a constructive atmosphere and concluded with an agreement to follow up the discussion through the formulation of more detailed cooperation programs in the upcoming meetings.
