FIB USU PR - On Friday, March 13, 2026, the Undergraduate Program in History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), organized a public lecture titled “The Future of Iran War”, conducted virtually via Zoom.

 

The event featured an international speaker, Dr. Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, with Muhammad Rasyidin serving as moderator. Also in attendance was the Vice Rector III of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, who delivered the welcome speech, along with Budi Agustono, who acted as the introduction speaker.

 

The session began with an introduction by Budi Agustono, who outlined the background of the topic and introduced the speaker. This was followed by a welcome speech from Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., who emphasized the importance of understanding global issues, particularly geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, in enriching students’ academic perspectives.

 

In his presentation, Dr. Hamidreza Gholamzadeh discussed various aspects of the possible future and dynamics of conflict involving Iran, including political, economic, and international relations factors that influence regional stability. He also highlighted the role of global actors and the potential impact on the global order.

 

The discussion was highly interactive, with active participation from students and online attendees. Various questions were raised regarding conflict scenarios, international diplomacy, and implications for Asia and the wider world.

 

The session was effectively moderated by Muhammad Rasyidin, who guided the discussion in a dynamic and engaging manner. Through this activity, the Undergraduate Program in History FIB USU demonstrated its commitment to providing academic forums that respond to current and global issues.

 

Through the implementation of this public lecture, students are expected to broaden their perspectives and enhance their critical analytical skills in understanding international geopolitical developments, in line with FIB USU’s commitment to producing outstanding and globally minded graduates.
