The Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted the Simalungun Batak Script Digitalization Learning Program at SMP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya as part of its efforts to expand cultural preservation through education. Held from 12 April to 10 May 2025, the program provided students with an opportunity to rediscover the Simalungun Batak Script as a cultural heritage with historical significance, cultural identity, and local wisdom that must be preserved for future generations.

Through a learning approach that combined conventional methods with digital technology, students were introduced to the forms, writing conventions, and contemporary applications of the Simalungun Batak Script. Various activities, including discussions, script-writing practice, educational games, and the use of digital media, were designed to create an engaging and interactive learning experience. As a result, students not only gained new knowledge but were also encouraged to appreciate the richness of their local cultural heritage.

The program is expected to serve as a bridge between cultural preservation and technological advancement in the modern era. The involvement of the Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in the school reflects the university's commitment to strengthening collaboration with the community through culture-based education. Guided by the spirit of "Introducing the Batak Script to a Future Generation that is High-Achieving, Cultured, and of Strong Character," the program aims to nurture young people who take pride in their cultural identity and actively contribute to preserving and developing Indonesia's cultural heritage.
