As a manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a Community Service activity with the theme “Storytelling as an Effort to Foster the Social Behavior of Students at SD Negeri 091311.” The activity, which was carried out in Pargampualan Village, Panombeian District, Simalungun Regency, aimed to develop children's character and social skills through enjoyable and educational learning methods.
Through storytelling activities, the students were invited to understand various positive values such as empathy, honesty, cooperation, responsibility, and mutual respect. The stories presented not only entertained but also served as an effective means of instilling moral and social values that are important for the development of children's character from an early age.
This activity demonstrates that literature and the tradition of storytelling have a significant role in education, particularly in shaping a generation with strong character, concern for others, and the ability to interact positively within the social environment. Through this community service program, the Batak Literature Study Program continues to strive to make a tangible contribution to society while supporting the creation of holistic education oriented toward children's character development.
