FIB USU PR - On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of Sumatra (USU) held the 2025 Faculty Level Outstanding Student Selection (PILMAPRES) at the FIB USU multipurpose building. Also present were Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A (Dean of FIB USU), Dr. Zulfan SS, M.Hum (Chairman of the Committee), The judges of the Faculty Level PILMAPRES FIB USU, namely Prof. Dr. Dra. Mahriyuni, M.Hum., Dr. Robert SH, M.Hum, and Prof. Dr. Erikson Saragih, S.Pd., M.Hum. .Head of Study Program & Secretary of Study Program, Lecturers, Public Relations and FIB USU Students.
PILMPARES began with welcoming remarks and was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A (Dean of FIB USU) explained that PILMAPRES is not just an event to select the best students on an inspiring intellectual stage, where selected students display their visions and creative ideas to answer the nation's challenges.
This year, the theme of the Creative Ideas manuscript that was raised is very relevant to the current era and the pulse of national development needs. Students are challenged to formulate innovative solutions to strategic issues that include the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as a compass for global development that prioritizes social justice and environmental sustainability, the Industrial Revolution 4.0, which encourages us to adapt to the digital and automation era, Impact Campus, as a manifestation of the role of universities in touching the real lives of the community, and the Priority Program from Asta Cita, as the direction of national development initiated by the government.
In the context of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, we have great strengths in the fields of culture, language, literature, history, other humanitarian fields and local values. This is where our unique contribution lies. That progress is not solely measured by technology and economy, but also by cultural maturity, inclusive humanity, and meaningful intergenerational dialogue.
The first winner of the Faculty Level PILMAPRES will be sent for selection at the University Level. If they become the winner at the University Level, they will be sent for selection at the National Level. The first winner of the Faculty Level PILMAPRES will be guided in preparation for the University Level.
