Profile
Prof. Dr. Erikson Saragih, S.Pd., M.Hum. is a tenured Professor at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and is assigned to the Doctoral Program in Linguistics. He completed his primary through secondary education in Pematangsiantar. In 1996, he earned his bachelor's degree in English Language Education from the Faculty of Language and Arts Education, State Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) Medan. He obtained his master's degree in Applied English Linguistics from Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) in 2004 and completed his doctoral degree in Linguistics at Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2017.
During his doctoral studies, he qualified for and participated in the DIKTI Sandwich-like Program at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 2013. In 2014, he also received funding from DIKTI to participate in an international conference in Beijing, China.
He was appointed as an Assistant Professor (KUM 150) in 2006, promoted to Lecturer (KUM 300) in 2010, Associate Professor (KUM 719) effective 1 February 2022, and Full Professor (KUM 1026) in the field of Applied English Linguistics, with expertise in Scientific Writing, effective 1 September 2024. He was promoted to Rank IV-B effective 1 October 2024. He was officially inaugurated as a tenured Professor of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., on 18 December 2024.
Prof. Erikson Saragih is actively involved in research funded by Universitas Sumatera Utara and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti). He has published extensively in SINTA-accredited national journals as well as internationally reputed journals indexed by the Web of Science. He also serves as a reviewer for Scopus-indexed and SINTA-indexed journals. In addition, he is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at various academic forums, both in Indonesia and abroad.
