Ely Hayati Nasution was born in Pematangsiantar on July 3, 1985. She is a lecturer in the Undergraduate Program in English Literature at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Throughout her primary, junior high, and senior high school education, she consistently ranked first in her class and graduated *cum laude* with both her Bachelor's degree in Literature and Master's degree in Science from Universitas Sumatera Utara.

She was awarded the Academic Achievement Improvement Scholarship (PPA) from Universitas Sumatera Utara and was also a first-batch scholar of the Tanoto Foundation. Before joining USU, she worked for eight years at a private school in Medan, where she most recently served as Cambridge Curriculum Coordinator.

Her passion for education, particularly in the field of teaching and learning, led to several leadership roles at Universitas Sumatera Utara. She served as Coordinator of Material Development in 2018 and Coordinator of Training from 2019 to 2020 at the University's Education Development and Services Unit (UPP). From 2021 to 2026, she served as Secretary of the University's Educational Development Unit, which was restructured into the Institute for Curriculum and Learning Innovation (LINKUP) in 2022.

She has also actively participated in various professional development programs organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, including the English Language Proficiency Enhancement Program (2019), Talent Scouting Program (2020), the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Domestic Student Exchange Program (PMM DN) as a Nusantara Module Field Supervisor in 2021, and the MBKM Teaching Campus Program Batch 4 as a Field Supervising Lecturer in 2022.

Her expertise lies in linguistics, particularly Translation Studies within interdisciplinary contexts such as culture, media, and language teaching, which serve as her primary area of competence in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. She also possesses extensive expertise in curriculum development and learning innovation and is frequently invited as a speaker on these topics at Universitas Sumatera Utara and other higher education institutions across Indonesia.
