Dr. Dardanila, M.Hum. was born in Takengon, Central Aceh, on March 31, 1961. She earned her Doctorate in Linguistics from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in 2016. She received her doctoral degree after successfully defending her dissertation entitled The Linguistic Relationship among Karo, Gayo, and Alas Languages: A Comparative Historical Linguistic Study.

She is currently an active lecturer in the Undergraduate Program in Indonesian Literature at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU, where she teaches Comparative Historical Linguistics, Philosophy of Language, and Selected Topics in Language. She also teaches in the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Linguistics at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU, as part of a teaching team responsible for courses in Comparative Historical Linguistics and Ecolinguistics.

From 2015 to 2022, Dr. Dardanila served as a Special Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Between 2017 and 2021, she led a language research project funded by the Deputy for Research and Development Strengthening, Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

From 2017 to 2022, she and her research team also carried out a Community Partnership Village Program (Desa Binaan) in Simalungun Regency, funded through USU Non-PNBP funds. In 2018, she authored the book Pronomina Bahasa Gayo (Gayo Pronouns), which was published by Mahara Publishing, Jakarta.

Dr. Dardanila actively participates in both national and international academic conferences as a presenter, attending events in both in-person and virtual formats. From 2020 to 2022, she also served as the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
