Description

Medan, May 13, 2026 — Nikolas Supriyanto, a 2022 cohort student of the Undergraduate Program in History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), contributed to a national book chapter titled Temu Sejarah: Catatan Perjalanan Menyusuri Ingatan Nusantara, published by Lakeisha Publishing in 2026.

In the book, Nikolas authored an article entitled “De Esplanade, Saksi Perkembangan Kota Medan” (“De Esplanade, a Witness to the Development of Medan”). The article explores an important historical space in the history of Medan and illustrates how an area can bear witness to the transformation of a city over time.

Student participation in publications such as this is an important part of the higher education learning process. Students are not only expected to study history in the classroom but are also encouraged to explore historical sources, develop ideas, write academically, and communicate their research to a broader readership.

The Undergraduate Program in History, FIB USU, congratulates Nikolas Supriyanto on his contribution. This achievement is expected to encourage other students to start writing, conduct research, and take advantage of various publication opportunities while still pursuing their studies.

The Undergraduate Program in History continues to encourage students to actively participate in research, seminars, publications, competitions, and other academic activities as part of developing their academic skills and enriching their learning experiences.

This achievement aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly in promoting quality learning experiences and strengthening students’ research and academic literacy skills. Publication in a book chapter also supports the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by facilitating knowledge exchange and academic collaboration among authors contributing to a shared scholarly work.

Congratulations, Nikolas. Keep writing and creating!
