The Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), together with its partners, will organize Collaborative National Seminar Series-2 with the theme “Digitalization of Japanese Culture: Transforming Films, Dramas, Animation, Manga, Songs, and Other Literary Works into Global Literacy Media” on October 15, 2026, at the T. Amin Ridwan Building, FIB USU.
Collaborative National Seminar Series-2 will be organized by the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), together with its partners, with the theme “Digitalization of Japanese Culture: Transforming Films, Dramas, Animation, Manga, Songs, and Other Literary Works into Global Literacy Media.” The activity is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 09.00–12.00 WIB at the T. Amin Ridwan Building, FIB USU.
This national seminar will discuss the development of Japanese culture in the digital space as well as the transformation of various forms of popular culture and literary works into media that can support global literacy. Japanese films, dramas, animation, manga, songs, and literary works are part of cultural developments that can be introduced and understood through various digital media.
Collaborative National Seminar Series-2 will feature four Keynote Speakers, namely Prof. Hamzon Situmorang, M.S., Ph.D. from Universitas Sumatera Utara, Himawan Pratama, Ph.D. from Universitas Indonesia, Idrus, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D. from Universitas Andalas, and Rani Arfianty, S.S., M.Phil. from Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The activity will also feature Welcome Speeches by Irwan, S.S., M.Si., as Chairperson of the Collaborative National Seminar Series-2 Committee; Alimansyar, M.A., Ph.D., as Head of the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature at USU; Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., as Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU; and Inami Kazumi, Director General of The Japan Foundation, Jakarta.
The seminar will be moderated by Ghaisani Adnjani, CH, S.S., M.Si., from Universitas Sumatera Utara. Through this activity, participants are expected to gain insights into the development of Japanese culture in the digital era and the utilization of various cultural products as media for global literacy.
In addition to serving as a space for knowledge exchange, this activity is also part of a collaboration between educational institutions and organizations concerned with the study and learning of the Japanese language and culture. The activity brings together academics and stakeholders from several institutions in a national seminar forum.
Participants will also receive an e-certificate.
